Lo scopo è quello di “creare nuove sezioni del sito”, in cui saranno implementati sempre più contenuti video e interattivi. Sarà compito del Creative Technologist di individuare questi nuovi servizi e quali di essi saranno disponibili per tutto il vastissimo pubblico di NYTimes.com, e quali solo per quelli che saranno destinati ad essere gli “heavy user”, con più di un certo numero di articoli visti al mese, chiamati a pagare un abbonamento.
E’ alquanto saggio spendersi sempre di più nello sviluppo delle parti “social” del suo sito, per il Times, visto che ospita già 50 blog tematici e il suo account Twitter ufficiale conta più di 2,4 milioni di follower.
